Doctors say that people suffering from throat pain, cough, or asthma should be cautious while consuming ice cream. During winter, low humidity in the air can dry the throat further, and eating ice cream may increase discomfort and raise the risk of viral infections, doctors warn. Those with breathing difficulties or frequent coughing may experience worsening symptoms due to cold foods.
However, doctors do not advise complete avoidance. They recommend limiting ice cream intake to once or twice a week and eating it slowly. Doctors also suggest drinking a glass of lukewarm water or milk after having ice cream to soothe the throat. If you have a cold or mild throat infection, it is better to avoid ice cream altogether, as advised by medical experts.
