UK’s New Law to Crack Down on Illegal Immigration..

The UK has recorded its first charge under a new law aimed at tackling organised immigration crime. Indian national Hem Raj, 24, was arrested in Smethwick on September 15 in a joint investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and West Midlands Police. Authorities said the investigation followed the discovery of social media posts allegedly offering advice on fraudulent visa and asylum applications.

Raj has been charged under Section 17 of the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Act 2025 for allegedly advertising unlawful immigration services online. The NCA said this is the first time a person has been charged with the new offence as part of an NCA investigation. He has also been charged under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 for allegedly providing immigration advice unlawfully.
