The TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance recorded a major victory in the Vijayawada municipal elections, securing a decisive lead across the city’s three Assembly constituencies. According to results announced up to 1:30 a.m., the alliance won 72 of the 82 divisions, while the YSRCP secured eight seats. The remaining results were yet to be announced at the time. Leaders from all three alliance partners worked together during the campaign, coordinating seat-sharing and election strategies. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Chinni, NTR district TDP president Gadde Anuradha, MLAs Bonda Uma and Gadde Ramamohan Rao, Jana Sena district president Samineni Udayabhanu, BJP district president Adduri Sriram and other leaders played key roles in coordinating the campaign. Jana Sena candidate Vangaveeti Radhakrishna won the mayoral election with 2,65,888 votes, defeating YSRCP candidate Rayana Bhagyalakshmi, who secured 1,35,016 votes. Radhakrishna’s victory margin stood at 1,30,872 votes. Independent candidate AB Venkateswara Rao received 12,642 votes, according to the figures in the report.
The alliance also won the chairperson posts in all four municipalities in NTR district — Kondapalli, Tiruvuru, Nandigama and Jaggayyapeta — along with a majority of the wards. In Jaggayyapeta, 12 of the 36 wards were decided unanimously, with the TDP winning 10 and Jana Sena two. In Tiruvuru, Jana Sena candidate Pasupuleti Madhavi won the chairperson post. The alliance’s coordinated campaign and support from local leaders contributed to its performance across the municipalities. Meanwhile, AB Venkateswara Rao, a retired IPS officer who contested as an independent with the support of the Left parties and Congress, secured 11,137 votes in the mayoral contest and failed to retain his deposit, as reported at 1:30 a.m. The counting process was delayed in several locations due to heavy rains associated with Cyclone Murusu. Alliance supporters celebrated the results, while the YSRCP’s senior leaders were largely absent from the counting centres.
