The fourth edition of the #StandWithHer campaign panel discussion was held at WeHub, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University in Hyderabad, focusing on the theme, “Public Spaces Belong to Everyone – Male Presence and Behaviour in Public Places.” The event brought together distinguished personalities, including IPS officer Charu Sinha, filmmaker Sekhar Kammula, journalist Richa Mishra, actor-director Rahul Ravindran, and moderator Uma Sudhir. The discussion focused on challenges faced by women in public spaces, including harassment, intimidation, and restrictions on their freedom and mobility.
Panelists emphasized that ensuring women’s safety is not solely the responsibility of governments or law enforcement agencies but a shared societal obligation. They stressed the importance of respectful behaviour, active support, and creating safe environments where women can move freely without fear. The speakers called on men to become allies in promoting gender equality, challenging discrimination, and fostering a culture of dignity, inclusion, and mutual respect. The year-long #StandWithHer campaign aims to encourage meaningful dialogue and positive social change through monthly discussions on gender-related issues.
