The NEET UG 2026 examination has sparked a major controversy following allegations of a question paper leak. In response, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the exam held on May 3 and announced a re-examination on June 21. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan addressed the media, confirming that a detailed investigation has been ordered into the leak. He stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is already probing the matter and assured strict action against those responsible. He emphasized that the decision to cancel and re-conduct the exam was taken to ensure that students do not suffer any loss and that their future remains secure.
The minister further announced that from next year, the NEET examination will be conducted in an online format. He assured that the upcoming re-exam will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, with strict measures to prevent malpractice. Students will be given one week to choose their preferred exam city, while admit cards will be released on June 14. He also clarified that candidates do not need to pay any additional fee for the re-exam and urged them not to be misled by rumors circulating on social media.
