HYDRA Cracks Down on Illegal Water Extraction in Hyderabad

HYDRA has launched an operation against alleged illegal groundwater extraction in Hyderabad. Focusing on borewells installed in houses around Sunnam Cheruvu, officials conducted a sting operation to curb the unauthorised extraction of water. As part of the drive, pipes connected to borewells in houses near the lake were removed.

The operation was carried out in the presence of revenue and CMC officials. The action has drawn attention amid allegations that unauthorised water extraction has continued in the area for decades. The drive aims to curb the alleged misuse of groundwater and address illegal borewell activity around Sunnam Cheruvu.
