Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said that the government should take steps to bring back Indian talent from abroad. He was addressing an interaction with Indian researchers and students in Berlin, Germany. Referring to the issue of scholarships for students with government funds, he mentioned the name of CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke.
Piyush Goyal said that China is conducting special programmes to bring back talented scientists and researchers from abroad. He said that India can also look into such initiatives, but there are certain factors that need to be taken into consideration while implementing them in a democratic system. "If we take up such a programme, shouldn't it be the responsibility of the government that people like Abhijeet Deepke come and give scholarships to students? Why do we have to do it on our own? Unfortunately, such people come and confuse our thinking," Goyal said
Talking about the efforts to bring back foreign talent in China, Goyal said there is a difference between the system there and Indian democracy. "In China, people may be scared of misuse of government policies, but in India, democratic values have to be protected while implementing such schemes," he said. We have to distinguish between dictatorship and democracy.
