Artificial Intelligence (AI) models are violating regulations and guidelines and acting in secrecy around the world. The heads of the artificial intelligence companies themselves are making announcements that governments should make regulations and laws to control the development and scope of AI. Is India moving towards regulation of AI? Is it working on what steps should be taken? Is this why it is taking the opinion of experts and the public? Questions are being raised.
Experts say that the answer to these questions is yes to the recent revelations made by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The central government is taking steps to formulate a comprehensive policy on the benefits and risks of the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said at the NDTV World Summit 2026 in New Delhi on Friday that a consultation paper on AI will be released soon to gather views from experts, citizens, companies and stakeholders.
Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the use of AI is increasing rapidly in various sectors in the country and at the same time, human safety should be of utmost importance. AI technology should always be under human control. Ashwini Vaishnaw also spoke about the future of Indian mobile phone manufacturing at the same forum. "In the next two years, India will launch its own brand, indigenously designed and manufactured mobile phones like Apple and Samsung," he said.
