Residents in Pune are facing delays in the delivery of domestic LPG cylinders, with waiting periods increasing to three to four days in several areas. Earlier, cylinders were delivered almost immediately after booking. The delay comes as oil marketing companies have tightened dispatch rules to prevent hoarding and black marketing, even as bookings have sharply increased in the last two days amid concerns about supply disruptions linked to tensions in West Asia.
Distributors say cylinders are currently being released strictly based on daily quotas, which has reduced the availability of extra stock. Panic booking by consumers has further increased pressure on the system, causing long queues at agencies and slower deliveries. Some residents have reported paying significantly higher prices to obtain cylinders quickly, while others are switching to alternative cooking options such as electric stoves due to the delay in supply.
