India and the United States are set to restart their bilateral trade agreement discussions from December 10, with meetings scheduled for three days in New Delhi. The talks will focus on finalizing the first phase of the trade agreement. The US delegation will be led by Deputy USTR Rick Switzer. Currently, the US imposes a 50% tariff on Indian exports, which India aims to address. Both countries held talks in September, and officials hinted that the first phase of the agreement may be finalized within this year.
Key issues such as tariffs, trade barriers, and export benefits will be discussed during the meeting. India and the US aim to complete the trade negotiations by December 2025. So far, both sides have met six times as part of this process. Presently, bilateral trade between the two nations stands at $191 billion, and the goal is to increase it to $500 billion by 2030.
