India’s e-commerce sector is expected to witness massive growth in the coming years, according to a report by research consultancy Infosum. The market, valued at $125 billion in 2024, could nearly triple to $345 billion by 2030. The rapid expansion of quick commerce and the integration of artificial intelligence are expected to be major drivers of this growth.
The number of dark stores in the country is also projected to rise significantly. From 2,525 dark stores in 2025, the number could nearly triple to 7,500 by 2030, driven by growing demand for faster deliveries. The report identified quick commerce as the fastest-growing segment of India’s e-commerce sector and said its expansion is likely to reshape the country’s e-retail market.
The quick-commerce segment could reach a market value of $65-70 billion by 2030, according to the report. It is expected to contribute around 45-50% of the incremental growth in India’s e-retail sector over the next five years. Generation Z is emerging as a key growth driver, already accounting for nearly one-third of online shoppers, and is expected to become the country’s largest digital spending group by 2030.
