Employees, pensioners and their family members covered under the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) will continue to receive free outpatient services at NIMS. Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha has directed the NIMS administration to ensure that EHS beneficiaries can avail themselves of OP services at the hospital as before. The decision comes after new EHS guidelines stated that inpatient services would be available at network hospitals, while outpatient services would primarily be provided through wellness centres.
Telangana currently has 12 wellness centres, while the government has approved 24 additional centres. The process of establishing wellness centres in all district headquarters where such facilities are not currently available is underway. Three more wellness centres are also being set up in Hyderabad. The government is further working to provide specialty and super-specialty medical services through wellness centres linked to general hospitals.
