Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan stated that India is not currently a superpower, and believing so reflects a lack of maturity in thinking. However, he clarified that aspiring to become a superpower is not wrong, but reaching that level could take several decades. Speaking on entrepreneur Kushal Lodha’s podcast, he emphasized that the country must first focus on nation-building.
He noted that India can achieve this goal only if all its citizens work hard over the next 30 years. Rajan warned against complacency based on the current pace of economic growth. He highlighted that the country continues to face significant challenges in areas such as job creation, skill development, quality education, and productivity.
Raghuram Rajan further stressed that current growth figures should not lead to the assumption that India has already become economically strong. He concluded that sustained, long-term development will require more structured and well-planned efforts.
