Maruti Cars Hit by Another Price Shock

Leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki has announced another price hike, giving customers yet another setback. The company said prices of select car models will be increased by up to Rs 20,000. The revised prices will be effective from September, according to a regulatory filing. Maruti Suzuki attributed the increase to inflationary pressures and rising input costs. This marks the third price hike by the company since May this year.

The automaker said it had been taking steps to control costs and keep vehicle prices affordable over the past few months. However, persistent inflationary pressures and adverse economic conditions have made the price revision unavoidable, it said. The company added that it would make efforts to keep the additional burden on customers as low as possible. Maruti Suzuki currently offers a wide range of vehicles, from entry-level models such as the S-Presso to premium utility vehicles such as the Invicto.
