China is set to introduce changes to its visa application process for Indian applicants from October 26, 2026, according to the information provided. The revised procedure is expected to require applicants to complete an online application, upload the necessary documents and obtain preliminary approval before submitting physical documents at the designated diplomatic mission. Indian travellers planning business, educational or tourist visits to China should check the latest official instructions before applying to avoid delays or documentation issues.
Under the reported regional arrangement, the Chinese Consulate in Mumbai will handle applications from Maharashtra and Karnataka, while the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi will oversee applications from other regions. Applicants from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh are also expected to approach the Delhi embassy on a temporary basis. Applicants should confirm which mission has jurisdiction over their state and whether any appointment or document-verification requirements apply before travelling to submit their paperwork.
The reported visa fees are ₹2,900 for a single-entry visa, ₹4,400 for a double-entry visa, ₹5,900 for a six-month multiple-entry visa and ₹8,800 for a visa valid for one year or longer. The information also states that fees must temporarily be paid through demand drafts (DDs). Applicants are instructed to write their name, collection slip number and phone number on the back of the demand draft. As these are significant procedural and payment changes, travellers should verify the details, fees and payment instructions through official Chinese diplomatic channels before submitting an application.
