Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has opened up about his return to international cricket after a gap of four years, sharing insights into his comeback during a recent chat. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted the video on its social media accounts. Bhuvneshwar credited his family for supporting him throughout his journey, saying their encouragement played a significant role in his return. He also revealed that he and his family never discussed the possibility of his comeback. The fast bowler said he was not setting high expectations for his performances and preferred to focus on the present rather than worry about the future. Despite not representing India during the past four years, he continued working hard and believes the period helped him grow as an individual.
Bhuvneshwar also explained why he chose jersey number 78 for his return. According to the pacer, the digits add up to 15, and the sum of those digits is six, making it special to him. His previous jersey number was 15, which also adds up to six. He said he has continued refining his skills and tries to bowl according to a batter’s mindset. Bhuvneshwar added that he made the most of every opportunity in domestic cricket, participating in tournaments such as the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the UP T20 League and the Indian Premier League (IPL). He believes winning the opening match helped boost the confidence of the young Indian team.
