Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended National Sports Day greetings to the country’s youth and athletes. He virtually participated in the ‘Khelo India Samvaad’ programme held today and interacted with young athletes from across the country. Addressing the youth, Modi said sports are not merely about winning medals but are a means of awakening and harnessing the energy of young people. He stressed that both youth power and sporting spirit are essential for India’s progress.
Modi expressed concern that India has not had adequate representation and medal success at the Olympics. He said the country has no shortage of talent and called for identifying and nurturing sporting potential at an early age, particularly among children aged 5 to 15. He expressed hope that India would achieve a stronger performance at the upcoming Olympics and assured that the government would extend all necessary support to athletes. Meanwhile, Telangana will host the ‘Khelo India Youth Games’ in December, with events scheduled in Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar and Mahabubnagar.
