

North Zone produced an impressive all-round performance to defeat West Zone by 52 runs in the Duleep Trophy quarterfinal and book a place in the semifinals. Chasing a target of 302, West Zone resumed their second innings at 220/7 on the final day but lost their remaining three wickets within an hour. Abid Mushtaq led the bowling attack with 4/60 as West Zone were bowled out for 234. Tanush Kotian was dismissed for a duck, while Tushar Deshpande could manage only five runs. Urvil Patel added eight runs to his overnight score before becoming the final wicket to fall.
The turning point came on the third day when West Zone, who were 195/3, lost the crucial wickets of Musheer Khan and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Mushtaq finished with nine wickets in the match, including five in the first innings, and was named Player of the Match. North Zone had scored 251 in their first innings, while West Zone were dismissed for 187. North then made 222 in their second innings to set up the winning target. North Zone will now meet South Zone in the semifinal.
