After a break following the ODI World Cup, the Indian women's cricketers are ready to return to action. A five-match T20 series against Sri Lanka is set to begin on December 21st. The first two matches will be played in Visakhapatnam, and the remaining ones in Thiruvananthapuram. In this series, Team India's star batter Smriti Mandhana and all-rounder Deepti Sharma are aiming to achieve significant records.
If Smriti Mandhana scores another 18 runs, she will become the first Indian woman cricketer to complete 4,000 runs in international T20s. So far, she has scored 3,982 runs in 153 matches. Only New Zealand legend Suzie Bates has achieved this milestone worldwide. If Smriti achieves this feat, she will be writing a new chapter in the history of Indian women's cricket.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Deepti Sharma needs just 5 wickets to surpass Australian bowler Megan Schutt (151) and become the bowler with the most wickets in women's T20s. Deepti has taken 147 wickets in 129 matches so far. Additionally, she has the opportunity to become the first cricketer to register 1,000 runs and 150 wickets in women's T20s. Surprisingly, no one has achieved this record in men's T20s either.
