With the retention window officially closing on November 15, all ten IPL teams have submitted their final squads ahead of the December mega auction. While a few retention decisions surprised fans, the financial situation of each franchise is now the main point of discussion.
Among all teams, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stand far ahead with the biggest purse remaining.
KKR – ₹64.3 crore
CSK – ₹43.4 crore
SRH – ₹25.5 crore
LSG – ₹22.95 crore
DC – ₹21.8 crore
RCB – ₹16.4 crore
RR – ₹16.05 crore
GT – ₹12.9 crore
PBKS – ₹11.5 crore
MI – ₹2.75 crore
After releasing high-priced players like Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell, KKR now have a massive ₹64.3 crore remaining—giving them the flexibility to target virtually any top player at the auction.
Chennai Super Kings are also in a comfortable position with ₹43.4 crore. They have strengthened their setup by trading Sanju Samson for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, putting them in a strong position for aggressive bidding.
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants follow with ₹25.5 crore and ₹22.95 crore respectively, both equipped to make major signings.
However, the toughest challenge lies ahead for Mumbai Indians, who have just ₹2.75 crore left. With such a small purse, MI will be limited to picking backup players and cannot compete for premium names.
The December auction is now shaping up to be a high-stakes event—especially with KKR and CSK entering with significant financial muscle.
