India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand national cricket team in Ahmedabad. The International Cricket Council stated that Arshdeep violated Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to throwing a ball or any piece of cricket equipment in an inappropriate or dangerous manner during an international match.
The incident took place in the 11th over of New Zealand’s innings, when Arshdeep collected the ball on his follow-through and threw it aggressively, striking batter Daryl Mitchell on the pads. Along with the fine, one demerit point has also been added to his disciplinary record, marking his first offence in a 24-month period. Arshdeep accepted the sanction proposed by ICC match referee Andy Pycroft, which eliminated the need for a formal hearing. The charge was brought by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf, along with third umpire Allahuddien Paleker and fourth umpire Adrian Holdstock.
