Passengers attempting to book train tickets on Friday morning faced significant disruptions on the IRCTC website and mobile app. Users reported repeated errors, slow page loading and booking failures, particularly during the peak booking window around 8 AM. Several passengers said messages such as “Unable to Process Request” and “System Overload” appeared while trying to complete their reservations. Many claimed that delays caused them to lose seats during the crucial opening minutes of the booking process.
The disruption comes amid rising reservation demand ahead of the festive season. The Indian Railways Passenger Reservation System recorded a single-day high of 22,26,786 tickets booked on September 7, indicating the growing pressure on the reservation system. IRCTC has also been modernising its ticket-booking website, with features aimed at simplifying the booking process. However, the latest issues highlight the importance of strengthening backend capacity to handle heavy traffic along with improving the user interface.
