‘Cult’ is the upcoming slasher film directed by and starring Vishwak Sen, scheduled to hit theatres this Friday. The film revolves around a private party where a game takes a terrifying turn, with the losers facing deadly consequences. Speaking in a recent interview, Vishwak Sen revealed that he initially wanted to create a film capturing the chaotic atmosphere of a party, similar to the Hollywood film ‘Project X’. He began writing the story but struggled to develop the second half, even after working on it for nearly two years. Unable to find the right direction for the screenplay, he decided to set the project aside, believing that the story itself needed to guide the filmmaking process.
Vishwak Sen further revealed that a friend later told him about an incident in Vietnam that had reportedly gone unnoticed by the media. The incident gave him the breakthrough he needed, and he completed the film’s second half in just one day. ‘Cult’ also features Gayatri Bharadwaj, Tarak Ponnapa, Murali Sharma, Srikanth Iyengar, Karthikeya, Anirudh Bhaskar, Ezy, Yagnya Turlapati, Kabeer Bhartiya, Vishak Nair and Chepuri Vivek in key roles. The film is produced by Tarak Cinemas and Vanmaye Creations, with Ravi Basrur composing the music. With its party setting and slasher elements, the film is set to bring a suspense-filled story to the big screen.
