Vodafone Idea (Vi) has reportedly introduced a data-sharing facility for eligible prepaid users, extending a feature commonly associated with postpaid family plans to prepaid connections. Through the Vi mobile app, users can transfer a portion of their available main data allowance to eligible family members. The facility is intended to help when a family member runs out of mobile data and needs internet access urgently. Users can transfer up to 500MB in a single transaction and share data up to four times per month, subject to the applicable conditions. A family group can include up to four members, according to the report.
Several restrictions apply to the service. The user sharing data must have more than 600MB remaining in their main data allowance. Data from add-on packs, OTT-related benefits, weekend data rollover, Data Delight and additional benefits offered under Hero or Super Hero plans cannot be shared. Only eligible data from the main plan allowance can be transferred. The shared data remains valid only until 11:59 PM on the day it is transferred; any unused amount expires after that. Users should check the Vi app for eligibility and the latest terms before attempting a transfer.
