Asha Kiran, daughter of the late Vangaveeti Ranga, is preparing to re-enter active politics nearly ten years after staying away from public life. Speaking in Vijayawada while paying tributes to her father, she stated that she wants to work toward fulfilling Ranga’s ideals and serve the people who continue to admire his legacy. Asha clarified that she has no differences with her brother, Vangaveeti Radha, and believes she has his complete support. She also assured members of the Ranga Mitra Mandali that she would stand by them and take decisions only after consulting senior leaders of the group.
Vangaveeti Ranga remains a powerful figure in Andhra Pradesh’s political history as a Kapu community leader who was elected MLA from Vijayawada Central in 1985. His assassination in 1988 triggered widespread unrest and shaped the region’s politics for decades. After Radha’s inconsistent political journey across multiple parties, the re-emergence of Asha Kiran after almost twenty years has sparked fresh interest in political circles. Speculation is strong that she may lean toward the YSRCP, although she has not confirmed her political affiliation yet.
