A Pakistani national affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), identified as Yasir, was killed during a joint security operation in the upper reaches of Yousmarg in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said. The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs about the movement of terrorists in the area. Security forces, including the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, conducted a search operation, which led to an exchange of fire and Yasir’s death.
Jammu and Kashmir Police identified Yasir as a Pakistani national affiliated with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. Security agencies had reportedly been tracking his movements in the region. Investigations are now focused on his alleged links with other terrorists, his local network and any possible involvement in recent terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
