The Telangana Rural Development Department has begun field-level verification of applications received for new pensions under the Cheyutha social security pension scheme. Although the application process is still underway, Minister Seethakka has directed officials to conduct verification simultaneously to avoid delays in sanctioning pensions. The government has issued guidelines for thoroughly scrutinising the applications received in the first phase and identifying eligible beneficiaries. Mandal-level officials in rural areas, concerned officials in municipalities and circle-level officials in municipal corporations will participate in the verification process.
A dedicated Cheyutha verification mobile application has been developed to record applicants’ details, documents and eligibility status. Officials will verify the applicants’ social and economic conditions, residential status, pension category and other eligibility criteria at the field level. If required documents have not been submitted with an application, officials will collect and upload them during the verification process. Verification has to be completed by September 25, after which the eligible beneficiary list will be forwarded for district-level scrutiny. Following approval by the District Collector, sanction orders for the new Cheyutha pensions will be prepared and issued to beneficiaries.
