Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy said that a developed India can be built only with a healthy population. He stressed that achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 requires greater focus on health, nutrition, hygiene, fitness, sports, and the welfare of women and children. He made the remarks as the chief guest at the valedictory programme of the five-day National Poshan Maah celebrations organised by the Central Bureau of Communication under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at A.V. College in Hyderabad.
Kishan Reddy called for awareness about nutrition and healthy lifestyles to evolve into a people’s movement rather than remain limited to government initiatives. He urged people to adopt balanced diets, adequate sleep, regular exercise, walking, yoga and sports as part of their daily routine, while reducing excessive consumption of sugar, oil and junk food. He also stressed the need to limit the use of digital devices and called for collective efforts by parents, teachers, educational institutions, police, voluntary organisations and society to combat drug abuse among youth.
