Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu alleged that there is a conspiracy angle behind the adulterated ghee issue linked to temple administration, speaking during a discussion in the State Assembly. He stated that several irregularities took place in temples between 2019 and 2024 and recalled that one of his first decisions after assuming office was appointing a new TTD Executive Officer. Emphasizing his personal devotion to Lord Venkateswara, the Chief Minister said he has always fought on principles and claimed that even during British rule, no one dared to interfere with the sanctity of Tirumala temple.
Naidu revealed that nearly 59 lakh kilograms of ghee were allegedly adulterated and accused a syndicate of operating behind the controversy. He said action began after the NDDB report was received, following which a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under Supreme Court supervision. According to him, tender rules were changed in February 2020, complaints were filed against a firm in May 2022, and investigation reports followed later, culminating in the NDDB findings in July 2024. He alleged contracts were awarded to companies incapable of producing milk and claimed that harmful chemicals and animal fat were detected in the ghee, raising serious concerns about corruption and deliberate malpractice.
