The Budget Session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly commenced today in Hyderabad, marking an important phase in the state’s legislative calendar. Both the Assembly and the Telangana Legislative Council are being conducted within the same premises. While the Assembly meetings will take place in the main building, the Legislative Council sessions will be held in the historic Old Assembly Hall, which was recently restored and inaugurated by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The heritage structure, once known as the Town Hall and later used as the Assembly during the united Andhra Pradesh era, has been renovated with modern facilities after remaining unused for several years following the state bifurcation.
As part of the opening day events, the statue of Telangana Thalli will be unveiled in the Assembly premises between 11:27 AM and 11:37 AM by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Legislative Council Chairman, and the Speaker. Members of both Houses have been invited to attend the ceremony. The joint session of the Assembly will begin at 11:40 AM, followed by the Governor’s address to both Houses at 11:45 AM. Recently appointed Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will address the Assembly for the first time after assuming office.
