Political Shock in Telangana - Konda Surekha Removed from Cabinet

A major political development unfolded in Telangana with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla removing Environment, Forest and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha from the state Cabinet on the recommendation of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The Chief Minister’s Office announced the decision, while G. Chinna Reddy was also removed as Vice-Chairman of the Telangana State Planning Board. A government gazette was subsequently issued, and the departments held by Surekha were brought under the Chief Minister’s supervision.

The developments come amid a political controversy within the Telangana Congress that has continued for nearly two weeks. The party disciplinary committee reportedly examined remarks made by Surekha’s daughter Susmitha and allegations raised by Chinna Reddy before recommending action. The government also announced three key appointments: Gadwal Vijayalakshmi as Planning Board Vice-Chairperson, Gundu Sudharani as Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Chairperson and Nerella Sharada as Telangana Women’s Commission Chairperson. Surekha becomes the third minister to be removed from a Telangana Cabinet since the state was formed.
