TDP Gears Up for Local Polls: Chandrababu Gives Key Directives on Candidates

TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said candidates for the upcoming local body elections would be selected based on public and party workers’ acceptance, along with their performance. He said greater priority would be given to youth and women. Naidu indicated that urban local body, ZPTC and MPTC elections could be held within a week-long period in October. He reiterated that 34% reservation would be provided to BCs and said the quota would not be reduced under any circumstances. He also directed party leaders to maintain close coordination with alliance partners.

At a meeting with ministers and zonal observers at his Undavalli camp office, Naidu reviewed the party’s preparations for the local elections. He said the polls would provide an opportunity to assess the party’s position compared with the 2024 Assembly elections. Leaders were asked to study local social and political equations and submit reports on potential candidates. Naidu also directed the party machinery to explain the alliance government’s development and welfare initiatives to voters and prepare for the elections with a positive agenda. He stressed that coordination among alliance partners must remain strong.
