Kadambari Jethwani Case - Suspension of Two IPS Officers Revoked

The Andhra Pradesh government has revoked the suspension of IPS officers Kanti Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni, who are accused in the Kadambari Jethwani case. The government said both officers would be taken back into service with immediate effect. The decision was taken after considering a report submitted by DGP Harish Kumar Gupta. Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad issued separate orders on Thursday, stating that the suspension was being revoked without prejudice to the disciplinary and criminal proceedings continuing against the two officers.

Kanti Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni were suspended on September 15, 2024, after a case was registered at Ibrahimpatnam Police Station over allegations of harassment and the illegal framing of a case against Jethwani. Their suspension had been extended every six months following concerns that their reinstatement during the investigation could influence witnesses. With the CID completing its probe and recently filing a chargesheet in court, the government reviewed their representations and the DGP’s report before revoking the suspension. Former Intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, another accused in the case, retired on August 31 while still under suspension.
