Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy stated that the central government has taken a balanced decision on increasing parliamentary seats without causing injustice to any state. He recalled that earlier, Indian National Congress leaders argued that population-based delimitation would disadvantage southern states due to their lower population compared to northern regions. However, the Government of India has now resolved the issue by deciding to increase MP seats based on the existing structure, ensuring equitable representation across all regions.
Responding strongly to Revanth Reddy, Kishan Reddy termed his criticism as baseless and politically motivated. He dismissed claims that southern states lack representation at the Centre, highlighting that over the past decade, leaders from the South have held key positions, including Vice Presidents and Union Ministers. He also questioned why Rahul Gandhi shifted his electoral base to Kerala and why Abhishek Singhvi chose Telangana, asserting that India is one nation where leaders can represent any region without restrictions.
