Fresh discussions over leadership changes have surfaced within the Indian National Congress in Karnataka. Reports suggest that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar were called to Delhi by the party high command, triggering political speculation in the state.
According to political circles, D. K. Shivakumar is lobbying for the Chief Minister’s post. However, reports indicate that Rahul Gandhi is reluctant to replace an OBC Chief Minister. There is also speculation that the Congress high command may offer the Home Ministry to Shivakumar and a Rajya Sabha seat to his brother D. K. Suresh.
