BRS MLC Dr. Dasoju Sravan and several party leaders were reportedly stopped by police in Rajendranagar while travelling to participate in a public consultation on the Musi project and taken to Kanchanbagh Police Station. According to a media note released by the BRS, those stopped included Kuruva Vijay, former Somajiguda corporator Mahesh Yadav, Totla Swamy, Shaikpet division president Pradeep, and several BRS leaders from the Khairatabad constituency.
BRS leaders objected to the reported action, stating that the group was on its way to participate in a consultation where people could express their views on Musi rejuvenation and the rehabilitation of affected families. The party emphasised that public opinion is an essential part of democracy and urged the government to listen freely to the concerns, problems and views of residents affected by the project. In its statement, the BRS called for public consultations to be conducted transparently and peacefully while protecting citizens’ democratic rights.
