BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticised the house arrest of former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and Rajendranagar BRS in-charge Karthik Reddy, who were reportedly prevented from attending a public consultation on the Musi project. In a post on X, KTR described the action as undemocratic and accused the Congress government of reminding people of the Emergency era. He alleged that the government was attempting to silence the BRS for raising concerns on behalf of residents living along the Musi river. KTR warned that the party would continue its opposition to such measures.
KTR also accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of prioritising the Musi project while farmers across Telangana were struggling with drought conditions. He demanded compensation of at least ₹50,000 per acre for crops damaged by the drought. Alleging that the government was planning corruption worth ₹1.5 lakh crore under the guise of the Musi project, KTR further claimed that the initiative could lead to the demolition of homes and benefit real estate interests. These allegations were made by KTR in his post. On behalf of the BRS, he demanded the unconditional release of Sabitha Indra Reddy and Karthik Reddy, an end to what he described as corruption surrounding the project, and immediate support for drought-affected farming families.
