Devarakonda MLA Nenavath Balu Naik inaugurated a Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) cotton procurement centre at Sri Shiva Sai Cotton Ginning Mill in Chintapalli mandal, Nalgonda district, on Wednesday. Speaking at the event, he said cotton farmers invest considerable amounts in seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, labour and irrigation. He encouraged farmers to use the government procurement system to access the minimum support price (MSP) and reduce the risk of selling their produce at lower market rates.
For the 2026–27 cotton season, the centre will inspect cotton quality and procure eligible produce according to the prescribed standards. Farmers have been advised to dry their cotton thoroughly and remove leaves, dirt and other impurities before bringing it to the centre. Moisture levels and cotton quality may affect eligibility and the final price. The displayed rate list mentions ₹8,667 per quintal for long-staple cotton, ₹8,617 for BB Special and ₹8,567 for mechanical variety cotton. These rates are subject to the applicable government guidelines, cotton variety and quality requirements. Farmers should confirm the rate applicable to their produce with CCI officials, check weighing and moisture-test details, and retain their sale receipts and payment records.
