BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao has criticised Telangana Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy over the state’s utilisation of Krishna river water, accusing the Congress government of presenting conflicting figures and misleading the public. In a post on X dated October 28, 2026, Harish Rao referred to the agenda submitted by the Telangana government for the 21st Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) meeting. According to the figures cited by him, as of September 21, 2026, Andhra Pradesh had diverted 45.791 thousand million cubic feet (TMC) of water from the Srisailam project to areas outside the river basin, while Telangana had used 10.653 TMC through the MGKLI scheme to meet the needs of areas within the basin.
Harish Rao questioned why the minister’s public statement differed from the figures reportedly submitted by the state government to the KRMB. He asked Uttam Kumar Reddy to clarify which set of figures was accurate and whether the government’s communication to the board and the public was consistent. The BRS leader further alleged that the Congress government had used Krishna water at historically low levels and accused it of failing to utilise available water effectively. These are allegations made by Harish Rao; a complete assessment would require examining the KRMB meeting agenda and the minister’s original statement.
