Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) convener Abhijit Deepke has accused the Union government of pressuring Instagram to remove social media posts critical of the government. In his remarks on social media, Deepke alleged that thousands of posts and accounts were being taken down every day. He questioned whether removing online content could address the concerns raised by citizens, arguing that such actions could instead deepen public distrust.
CJP leaders have also alleged that a large number of videos are being removed and restrictions imposed on thousands of accounts in India. They maintain that restricting online expression will not make public grievances disappear. However, these claims remain allegations attributed to Deepke and CJP leaders; the figures and the alleged government pressure have not been independently verified here. The issue raises broader questions about online content moderation, freedom of expression and the regulation of social media platforms in India.
