Joseph Vijay, who scripted history with a landmark victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, grabbed attention once again during his swearing-in ceremony with a striking modern appearance. Unlike former Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers such as M. G. Ramachandran, M. Karunanidhi, and M. K. Stalin, who traditionally wore dhoti and kurta reflecting Dravidian culture, Vijay chose to take oath in a stylish blazer. His decision immediately became a major talking point across political and social circles, symbolising a shift toward a modern and Gen Z-inspired political image.
As promised during his election campaign, Vijay once again projected himself as a common man and a representative of the younger generation through his contemporary attire. By opting for a blazer instead of the customary traditional outfit, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader signalled his intention to bring change from the very beginning of his tenure. Vijay also created history as the first film actor after MGR to launch a political party and become Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Political observers believe his appearance and messaging were carefully designed to connect with youth and ordinary citizens while presenting a fresh political identity for the state.
