Shravana Masam is regarded as one of the most auspicious months in the Telugu calendar. It is traditionally associated with weddings, religious observances, Mangala Gowri Vratam, Varalakshmi Vratam and Rakhi Purnima, which celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. The month gets its name from the Shravana star, as the full-moon day is traditionally associated with the Moon’s presence in Shravana Nakshatra. Shravana Masam begins on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The month is marked by several important religious and cultural occasions. Nag Chaturthi and Nag Panchami are observed in the first week, followed by Kalki Jayanti and Varalakshmi Vratam. Rakhi Purnima, Jandhyala Purnima, Hayagriva Jayanti and other observances fall on August 28. The latter part of the month includes Raghavendra Swamy Aradhana, Sankashtahara Chavithi, Balarama Jayanti, Janmashtami, Teachers’ Day, Ekadashi, Masa Shivaratri and Polala Amavasya. The Shravana month concludes on September 11, 2026.
