The Andhra Pradesh government has accelerated efforts to resolve long-pending issues of farmers who contributed land for the development of the Amaravati capital. Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana announced that the process of registering returnable plots allotted under the land pooling scheme has officially begun.
He confirmed that farmers from Lanka villages are also eligible to register their allotted returnable plots, adding that the problems related to their plots have now been settled. Registration facilities have been arranged at the respective unit offices so that farmers can complete the process locally.
The minister assured that every farmer who gave land will receive fair and timely justice from the government. He also recalled that the government had already issued orders removing the term ‘assigned’ from plots allotted to farmers who parted with assigned lands. This allows such plots to be treated as patta lands, making transactions and sales easier for the beneficiaries.
Narayana reiterated that the recently formed three-member committee had promised to resolve all capital-region farmers’ issues within six months. He added that the remaining 719 farmers would soon receive their plot allotments, and the government aims to complete all registrations within the next four months.
Alongside capital construction, all pending works related to farmers are being taken up on priority.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, in a meeting with farmers, clarified that major projects such as an international airport, railway station, and sports city require additional land. He stated that a second phase of land pooling would be necessary to meet infrastructure requirements and attract investments, as the currently available land is insufficient for Amaravati’s long-term vision.
