Amid ongoing uncertainty over the next round of talks between the United States and Iran, new developments have emerged. Iran has indicated its willingness to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but with specific conditions. It has demanded that the United States withdraw its naval restrictions in the region and insisted that nuclear discussions should resume only after the waterway is reopened. These proposals were reportedly conveyed to the US through Pakistan, acting as a mediator.
Responding to this, Donald Trump stated that while the proposals are better than previous ones, they are still insufficient to finalize a deal. Meanwhile, tensions continue in the Middle East. Hezbollah has criticized ongoing discussions between Lebanon and Israel, warning that such talks could destabilize the country. However, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun defended the negotiations, stating that engaging in dialogue is not betrayal, but pushing the country into conflict for foreign interests is.
Recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon reportedly left 14 people dead and 37 injured. Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei has also questioned Pakistan’s neutrality, arguing that effective mediation requires impartiality. In a separate incident, near Oman, Iranian coast guard forces reportedly fired at an oil tanker named MT Siran carrying Indian crew members. Officials confirmed that all 17 Indian crew on board are safe.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Moscow and met Vladimir Putin to seek support. Putin stated that Russia remains committed to promoting peace in West Asia.
