Sarpanches Felicitate Minister Seethakka for Granting Financial Autonomy to Gram Panchayats

Hundreds of sarpanches from across Telangana felicitated Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Dr. Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka at Praja Bhavan, expressing gratitude for the amendment to the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act aimed at granting financial autonomy to gram panchayats. The sarpanches, led by Saudhani Bhumanna Yadav and Panchayat Raj Chambers president Chimpula Satyanarayana Reddy, thanked Seethakka for enabling panchayats to deposit their own revenue directly into their respective accounts instead of the treasury. They felicitated the minister with garlands and described the move as a significant step towards financial self-reliance and strengthening grassroots governance.

The sarpanches said the earlier system had made it difficult for gram panchayats to immediately use their locally generated revenue for urgent development works. Welcoming the amendment, they said it would enable panchayats to address local needs more efficiently and speed up development works. Speaking on the occasion, Seethakka said the government was committed to providing financial freedom to gram panchayats and ensuring that revenue collected from people was used for village development. She said strong panchayats would lead to stronger villages and contribute to Telangana’s overall development. Seethakka thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for their support for the reform.
