More than 40 flight services were cancelled on Wednesday at the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram due to adverse weather conditions caused by the cyclone. Dense cloud cover made take-offs and landings difficult, leading to the cancellation of services. Passengers travelling to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai faced difficulties for the second consecutive day. Services operated by IndiGo, Air India and Air India Express to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Vijayawada and Tirupati were also affected. Flights to Singapore operated by Scoot Airlines and services to Abu Dhabi were among those disrupted. An Andhra Pradesh Air Travels Association representative said a decision on Thursday’s flight operations would be taken based on prevailing weather conditions.
The cyclone’s impact also led to the cancellation of several train services scheduled for Thursday. Railway officials announced the cancellation of the Visakha Express (17015) between Bhubaneswar and Secunderabad, the Falaknuma Express (12703) between Howrah and Secunderabad, the Visakhapatnam–Parvathipuram special train (07268), and the Visakhapatnam–Rajahmundry MEMU service (67286). The cancellations are expected to affect passengers travelling along these routes. Travellers have been advised to check the latest updates with the respective airlines and railway authorities before starting their journeys.
