The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Weights and Measures Department inspector and a private individual for allegedly demanding and collecting a bribe of ₹20,000 to issue a verification certificate for a petrol pump in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Inspector K. Venkateshwarlu, who works in the district, recently inspected a local petrol pump and took away its daily sales register, reportedly promising to issue a verification certificate. He allegedly demanded ₹20,000 to return the register and issue the certificate, directing the complainants to pay the amount to Kasaram Ravinder, a private individual who works as a technician at the same petrol pump.
The complainants reportedly approached the ACB after the inspector’s monthly bribe demands allegedly increased. Acting on the complaint, ACB officials laid a trap and caught Ravinder while he was accepting ₹20,000 in LB Nagar. During the operation, Ravinder reportedly stated that ₹5,000 would be his share and the remaining ₹15,000 was meant for Venkateshwarlu. Based on the alleged bribery arrangement, the ACB arrested both individuals. The case highlights allegations of corruption involving the issuance of a verification certificate by the Weights and Measures Department.
