Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu clarified that the NDA government is advancing with five principles to transform agriculture into a profitable venture and bolster farmers' development. This was stated during the 'Raitanna... Meekosam' program in Nallajerla, Gopalapuram constituency, East Godavari district. On this occasion, he held a face-to-face meeting with farmers and discussed the agriculture action plan. The five principles include: implementing cultivation methods aligned with local food habits, focusing on agriculture-allied sectors, achieving higher income through intercropping, providing support to farmers without increasing electricity charges, and prioritizing the development of farmers' families. He reminded that 62% of the state's population depends on agriculture and allied sectors, which contribute 34% to the GSDP.
To make agriculture profitable, the Chief Minister suggested that farmers should also focus on allied sectors and that increasing groundwater levels can prevent droughts. While agricultural income in Telangana is only 14%, he emphasized the need to enhance it in our state. He announced plans to implement projects like Vamsadhara and Pennakku to efficiently utilize water from the Godavari and Krishna rivers. Expressing concern over 7,000 TMC of Godavari water and 1,500 TMC of Krishna water going waste into the sea this year, he stated that utilizing just 200 TMC would make the word 'drought' a thing of the past. He assured fair prices and comprehensive support for farmers.
