Buoyed by its success in the recent Panchayat elections, the ruling Indian National Congress has stepped up efforts to strengthen the party at the grassroots level through organisational restructuring. After completing village- and mandal-level committees, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has now turned its focus towards constituting district executive bodies.
As per the directions of TPCC state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, special observers have been appointed for each district. These observers will tour constituencies, receive applications from aspirants for key district-level posts such as vice-presidents, general secretaries, and treasurers, and finalise committees in line with party norms. The leadership has made it clear that priority will be given to those who have worked with dedication for the party.
The observer visits across the erstwhile Adilabad district are scheduled to begin from the 27th of this month. According to Asifabad District Congress president Atram Suguna, observers Dr Riyaz and Annayya Goud will tour the district during the first two days. Party leaders and workers aspiring for organisational posts have been asked to submit their applications during these visits.
The Congress has already appointed district presidents, including Vedma Bojju Patel for Nirmal, Atram Suguna for Asifabad, Naresh Jadav for Adilabad, and Pinninti Raghunath Reddy for Mancherial. Now, efforts are underway to build strong district teams to support these presidents and further consolidate the party’s base.
Party sources say that district executive committees will include posts such as one principal general secretary, vice-presidents, secretaries, treasurers, official spokespersons, and executive members in each district. Following this, district-level frontal organisations are also expected to be constituted in a planned manner. The Congress leadership believes that forming strong district teams will help the party maintain momentum and strengthen its presence at the grassroots level.
