Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Cauvery water issue, urging the Centre to protect the state's water rights. In his letter, the Chief Minister requested that the proposed Mekedatu Dam project on the Cauvery River should not be granted approval, stating that it could adversely affect Tamil Nadu's share of river water.
Highlighting the importance of safeguarding the interests of farmers and ensuring water security, Vijay urged the Prime Minister to take a balanced decision that protects the rights of all stakeholders. He stressed that Tamil Nadu's irrigation and drinking water requirements should not be compromised while considering the Mekedatu project.
